Japanese Civilian Camps

During the Second World War in the former Dutch East Indies, from March, 1942 to August, 1945, about 100,000 Dutch civilians were detained by the Japanese in internment camps. Men were separated from women and children. Starting in 1944, older boys were interned in either men’s camps or separate boys’ camps.
